It is with great sadness to announce the sudden passing of Richard F. Polgar (“Rick”), age 58, on
Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Rick is survived by his mother, Nancy Polgar, his father, Robert Polgar, his
sister Marcia Zalewski and her husband John, his sister, Christine Polgar, his niece, Kristina Zalewski, his
nephew John Robert Zalewski, and his uncle, Dennis Bogdanski. He is also survived by many cousins.

Rick was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Somerville, New Jersey. He was a graduate of
Somerville High School, Class of 1983, and a 1988 graduate of Rutgers College, Rutgers University. He
was a Fabrication Supervisor with Coherent, formerly known as II-VI, in Hillsborough, New Jersey. Rick
was a loving son and brother and cherished Uncle Ricky to Kristina and John.

A funeral mass at 10:00am will be held on Thursday, October 26,2023 at Immaculate Conception Church, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville,
New Jersey. Burial will be private at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road in Laureldale,
Pennsylvania.

I've known Rick since college, we shared a major and were roommates junior year. He was an old soul. The first 13 years of my children's life, we vacationed every year with Rick to LBI at the end of each summer. They knew him as Uncle Rick. I look back on those moments as some of the fondest memories I have. I am very sorry to hear of his passing and hope everyone who knew him can find solace in knowing he is finally at rest.

Mr. Polgar, Mrs. Polgar, Marcia and Chris You all helped me become who I am today. You all are my childhood. Just know that my heart is missing a piece because of your hurt. I will always cherish the memories of Rick tolerating/avoiding me and Marcia during the wonderful childhood years, and then enjoying our company once we grew up. There is too much history to single one memory, just know my love is with you all right now.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

My sincerest condolences to the Polgar family. Rick was a great guy, someone I always looked forward to seeing. He sat next to me in Algebra at SHS and I got into trouble with the teacher because Rick was making me laugh. He was also my little brother at Sig Ep. I won’t forget all the parties and football games we went to. I am going to miss Rick big time.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I met Rick in the late 80’s at The Old Bay. Although I didn’t see him often, he was a sweet and sensitive soul who was kind to everyone. My deepest and most heartfelt sympathies to his family. We will miss you dearly Rick, RIP my friend.

To the Zalewski Family, Even though we may not have met Rick, we very much understand the emptiness that comes from a loved one passing. Time does heal the broken-hearted feeling you may have for them not being right around the corner or a phone call away. It is often said that when one passes, they are in a better place, we have no doubt Rick has made it there and is now truly home. Please except our dearest and most heartfelt sympathies for this time and for your family.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I knew Rick from Rutgers. I remember his gorgeous green eyes.
