Peter Frederick Hanson, 83, died October 19, at a nursing home in Bridgewater, NJ. He was born on February 17, 1938, in Stamford, CT, to Oliver and Grace Hanson.
Peter had a long career at Roselle Tool & Die; beginning as an 18-year-old apprentice, and retiring as the shop foreman more than fifty years later. During that time he married his wife, Barbara Ann Willoughby; raised two children, Robert and Jennifer; and welcomed several pets into the family.
Peter was no stranger to hard work, and enjoyed ambitious projects including home-remodeling, gardening and landscaping, and masonry.
Computers and cutting-edge technology were his passion that started with the science-fiction stories he read as a young person. He played video and computer games, was interested in photography and photo editing, and the latest generation of drone tech. Peter was also a self-taught investor and kept track of the latest financial news.
Holiday and special-event gatherings were important to Peter and his wife, Barbara, and they enjoyed hosting family and friends. Peter was in charge of all things cookie-related and rarely left anything without a generous coating of chocolate and sprinkles. As a couple they also enjoyed their yearly winter escape to Key West.
Peter is predeceased by his wife, Barbara. He is survived by his son, Robert, and daughter-in-law, Laura; daughter, Jennifer, and son-in-law, Adnan; grandchildren, Isobel, Azahn, David and Kathryn; brothers, Kenneth and Bruce.
