Marcie Tyson left a message on August 28, 2026:
It is with great sadness that I write this tribute for MaryAnn. While she was my “Deputy” Registrar in the Vital Statistics office in Somerville Borough Hall, in reality she was my partner in every way. She treated everyone who came into our office with respect, kindness and professionalism that I admired and appreciated. We weathered the demands of working through Covid together, sharing an office and our lives with resilience, camaraderie and a large dose of humor. When I retired and MaryAnn took on the responsibility of being Registrar of Vital Statistics, I was glad to leave that office in such capable hands. Most of all, I am grateful for our friendship.

MaryAnn's kind, gentle, soul will be greatly missed. She seemed to know every person in town, and the spirit of Somerville will be forever diminished by the loss of her. I'm so glad to have known Mar over the years, and will remember her presence at bakery parties and hanging out together in the back yard, which she loved and cared for. My condolences to the entire family of friends and neighbors and relatives who have loved Mar throughout her life.
