In Loving Memory of Mark Gushy Jr.
Mark Gushy Jr., a remarkable soul who graced this world with his presence, peacefully
departed this life on February 4, 2024, at the age of 85, concluding a courageous battle
against cancer and pneumonia. He was a beacon of strength and courage throughout
his journey.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Mark Sr. and Olympia, and siblings, Helen
Gary-Bishop and Harry Gushy. Their spirits, now reunited, form a constellation of love
shining down on those who mourn their absence.
Mark is survived by his devoted husband, David Pray, and dear friend, Mary Illes, as
well as countless family and friends who loved Mark dearly.
Mark’s journey began in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where he was later drafted into
the US Army as an ophthalmology technician. His service was marked by dedication
and honor. After serving in the military and then becoming the primary provider for his
family, Mark, along with his brother, Michael, opened The Princetonian Hair
Replacement Co. in Princeton, NJ. In 1977, the business expanded to include The
Princetonian Somerville and was moved to his home in Somerville, NJ, which remained
open until 2021.
Mark’s legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have
known him. As we celebrate Mark’s life, we carry with us his love of football, storytelling
prowess, and selfless nature.
The family plans to hold a private celebration of life in the coming months.
