HILLSBOROUGH- “Loving Father, Grandfather and Great grandfather” David L. Coleman, died at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
David was employed as a retired Mechanical engineer with daily responsibilities of environmental control at Research Cottrell. He also was privileged and proud to serve his country as Lt. commander in the Naval Air reserve, retiring in 1975. David was called back to active duty during the Cuban missile crisis as a Pilot.
In his spare time, he devoted his time as an active VFW member for many years, an active member of Neshanic United Methodist Church since 1965, and an active member of Chapter A Hillsborough Seniors Club for 31 years. David enjoyed the outdoors. He was a boy scout leader in the1970s and the 1980’s. He loved anything having to do with airplanes, cars and history. David also enjoyed doing the crypto quotes and Sudoku puzzles in the Courier newspaper and reading the comics, particularly B.C. and Peanuts.
Above all he loved his wife, Ina of 62 yrs., family, his many friends and his Friday night dinners with his family. He never met a stranger.
David is predeceased by wife Ina Badgley Coleman, a son David Kimball Coleman, his parents Clayton Boyd Coleman and Marguerite House Coleman and his brothers Ralph, C.B., Ned and Carl.
David is survived by his son, John Coleman (Stacie), his daughters Donna Coleman (Mark Horr) and Amy Coleman Westlye (Mark) of Hillsborough, granddaughters Brittney and Rhiannon Coleman, a great grandson David John Coleman, a Sister-in-law Jeri Coleman, nieces Jane Fenton (Jim) of Ct. and Susan Guezetta (Richard) of CA, and nephews, Kevin Coleman (Theresa) of GA. And Charles Riggs Coleman of CA.
We will miss his jolly laugh and his corny dad jokes as well as his “love you, too” ending to almost every conversation.
A Memorial service at the Neshanic United Methodist Church Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11:00am. Private burial at the Neshanic Cemetery to follow.
