It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joye Anna Crowe-Logan, age 48, on Monday, June 15, 2026, at RWJ University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Camp Hill, PA,  on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 11:00am and a celebration of life will be held in New Jersey later this year.

A graduate of Creative Writing and Philosophy from Lycoming College, Joye furthered her education with a Master’s of Library and Information Science from Rutgers School of Communication and Information. During her academic career, she visited Italy to connect with her grandparents’ heritage. She was inspired by language as a tool. She was an award-winning Latin student, inspired by her favorite teacher and special friend, Kelly Monahan-DiNoia. She dedicated her life to service, working as a Librarian at the New Brunswick Free Public Library for 25 years. Joye also served many years on the board of The Heroes Journey, a non-profit organization that promotes personal and academic growth through engaging young children in personal development through gaming and mentorship.

Joye’s love of all things green, her affection for cats, and her appreciation for a well-timed pun were felt by everyone lucky enough to share in her life. Her passion for music — spanning classic rock to Ani DiFranco — along with her endless love of movies and television, brought countless hours of joy to those around her. She spent many cherished hours with family and friends listening to music and playing board games.

Words were more than a passion for Joye — they were a way of life. In any form — books, film, music, poetry — it was the gathering of information that drove her. She moved through the world with an endless curiosity, always seeking to learn, to understand, and to share what she found with those around her. She believed deeply in the power of information and made it her mission to bring that gift to everyone she could. That same thoughtfulness carried into everything she did; Joye had a quiet but unwavering sense of integrity, and doing the right thing was never a question for her — it was simply who she was.

If there was one thing Joye never left unsaid, it was love. She poured herself into her friendships and her family with a wholehearted devotion that left no room for doubt. Those lucky enough to be in her life knew, without question, that they were cherished — because she made sure of it, every single day. It then comes as no surprise that Joye’s last wishes were to give the gift of life – and love – to those in need. In the words of Ani DiFranco, “Because the world owes me nothing, And we owe each other the world.”

Joye is survived by her devoted husband of 22 years, Errol Logan — her partner, her companion, and her greatest love, with whom she shared 27 years of cherished memories. Her loving parents, Carol and John Crowe, who gave her a lifetime of unwavering love and support; her treasured sister, Kate Crowe-Bussiere, her confidante and dearest companion through every chapter of life, alongside her husband George Bussiere; her beloved nephew, Jude Stockert, whom she adored with every piece of her heart; and her cherished cats, Waldo and BC; her aunts: Nina Turton, Joy Utburg, Karen Hobson, Rebecca Enney; her uncles: Mike Utberg, George Hobson, Roger Kyte, George Enney; her cousins: Kathy Holmes, George Enney Jr., John Enney, Morgan Kyte, Amanda Johnson, Scott Maynard; her mother-in-law, Mary Logan; her brothers-in-law, Joseph Logan, Michael Logan and Eric Carlock; and her sisters-in-law, Barbara Logan, Nancy Logan and Amber Chailland.

Beyond her family, Joye was surrounded by friends who loved her just as deeply. These friends created a family she chose and one no less recognized as true by her blood relatives. Several members of this chosen family helped save Joye’s life during a medical emergency over a decade ago, and every day since has been an extra blessing. Candyce Valor, her dearest companion in adulthood, and her husband John Valor, with whom Joye and Errol shared countless memories; Erika Phillips, her childhood best friend and “big li’l sis” whose bond with Joye only deepened with time, her husband Dan Roper, and their daughter Helen — Joye’s beloved goddaughter; and Becky and Adrian Berk, who walked alongside Joye with the kind of love and devotion that only the truest of friendships can hold.

Joye touched lives wherever she went, weaving a rich tapestry of friendships that spanned every chapter of her life — from childhood bonds to colleagues and community members she met through her years of dedicated service. Her absence will leave an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, Marjorie and Jack Vaira, Ella and Edward C. Crowe; her aunt Angela Reed Kyte; her dad-in-law Julius Logan and mom-in-law Adeline Logan; her brother-in-law Edward Logan; and, her cat Ginny.
