Formerly of Clifton, NJ- A life long resident of Clifton, NJ, Evelyn A. Sokasits, 86, died on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. She was born on October 27, 1934 in Passaic, NJ to the late George and Elizabeth Schmitt. Evelyn was employed at Prudential, Broadway Photo and retired from Montclair State University Alumni Office. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Evelyn will be remembered for being a gracious hostess at Sunday dinners and holiday parties. She was proud of her German heritage and enjoyed dancing the polka at the Burgenland Sick Benefit Society’s parties.
Evelyn is predeceased by her husband Robert and a brother George Schmitt. She is survived by her beloved children Donna Curry and husband Jim, Robert Sokasits and Mark Sokasits and partner Peter Kavka, cherished grandchildren Michael, Matthew and Megan Curry, Robert, Mason and Lili Sokasits and Melanie and Ashlie Layman, loving sister Elizabeth Robinson and husband Frank, a sister-in-law Monica Schmitt, nephew Frank Robinson and wife Geri, a niece Susan Cramer and husband Ray and many cousins and friends.
A Private visitation from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at the funeral home. Memorial service 11:00am on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Holy Trinity Church, Bridgewater, NJ.  Burial 11:45am on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations in Evelyn’s memory may be made to a favorite charity of choice.
