BRIDGEWATER- Christopher A. Parenti, 89, died on Friday, May 25, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 21, 1929 in Plainfield, NJ to the late Rose and Angelo Parenti.
Christopher graduated Holy Trinity High School in Westfield, NJ. Dedicated to his country, he served in the Army during the Korean War as a military policeman and after being honorably discharged, he became an officer with the Somerville Police Department. Christopher also pursued a career in retail, where he advanced to personal director at Steinbach Department Store, received his insurance license retiring in 1991 from John Hancock Insurance and continued thereafter retirement to work as a financial advisor for Royal Alliance Associates. He was one of the founding members of the original Bridgewater Pop Warner football program, the oldest living past Exalted ruler for the Somerville Elks Lodge 1068 and served as a Deacon and Elder at the United Reformed Church in Somerville. Christopher will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Christopher is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Caryl, a son Mark, a daughter Barbara Burke (Chris), 2 grandsons Brandon and Taylor, a granddaughter Kaitlynn, a great granddaughter Lilith “Lili”, a brother Americo, a sister-in-law Ann, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and 2 brothers Angelo and Anthony.
Viewing will be Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, followed by a religious service 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Cremation is private.
