Bobby Ray Huggins
February 15, 1935 – August 18, 2025
Bobby Ray Huggins, 90, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 18, 2025.
Born in North Carolina on February 15, 1935, Bob was the son of George Rowland Huggins and Avada Andrews. After proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 and later in the Florida National Guard from 1957 to 1959, Bob went on to build a successful career as a nationally recognized sales manager for an office products company. He retired at the age of 65.
Bob shared 35 wonderful years with his wife, Barbara Tobias, who was also his partner in both life and in their business, Timeless Treasures, where they created and sold craft jewelry together. He was a devoted father to his two daughters, Tina Huggins and Cheryl Huggins. He is survived by Barbara, Tina, and Cheryl, who will always carry his love with them.
Bob’s life was filled with passions that brought him joy and community. He loved reading and football, especially his beloved Dallas Cowboys (and their cheerleaders!). A longtime volunteer at the VNA of Somerset Hills rummage sale, Bob became the go-to expert on lamps. He also had a love for photography, capturing countless moments and memories over the years. Travel was another joy, from cruises and international ports of call to New Jersey diners, southern food, and anything fried. At home, he enjoyed exercising and staying active at the JCC of Bridgewater, where he participated in community programs and made lasting friendships. Above all, he was known for giving the very best bear hugs in the world, embraces that will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center of Bridgewater or to the charity of your choice.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at the Cuoco Funeral & Cremation Services Funeral Home 10 West End Avenue, Somerville, NJ (908) 707-2058.
