Audrey L. Boise
Educator/Lecturer
Audrey L. Boise, 87, died after a short illness on Saturday, January 23, 2021. Formerly a resident of Summit, she had lived at Laurel Circle (formerly known as Arbor Glen) in Bridgewater, NJ, since 2006.
The youngest child of Paul G. and Lillian (Goedecker) Boise, she was born on February 12, 1933, in Hackensack, NJ, and moved to Summit as a child. She attended Summit High School and Wellesley College, from which she graduated in 1955. She taught in the Berkley Heights school district, and worked as a travel agent before obtaining an advanced degree from Farleigh Dickenson University. She returned to teaching in 1985 and retired from the New Providence school district in 1998. She was active in the Young Republicans, and supported conservative politics throughout her life.
An inveterate traveler, she toured widely in the Mediterranean, United Kingdom, South America, and Europe and enjoyed cruising in Alaska, the Canal Zone, and the Norwegian fjords. She documented her travels in almost 40,000 slides, which formed the basis of her lectures; popular programs included the D-Day anniversary celebrations and the tulip festivals of the Netherlands. She donated her slides and notes to the Somerville public schools after transitioning to a smaller residence at Arbor Glen.
She is survived by her sister, Evelyn M. Kittner, of Pittsburgh, PA, and a niece and nephew.
Funeral Arrangements are private.
