Lubova Popova, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully Friday, July 11, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 101 years old.
Lubova was born in Yartsevo, Russia, on September 11, 1923, to her late parents, Anastasia and Vasilij Pavlov. After surviving World War II, she met her beloved late husband, Piotr Popov, in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Lubova and Piotr got married in 1947 and migrated to Riga, Latvia. She worked at the largest dairy plant in Latvia for 42 years, eventually becoming the Chief Engineer managing the production of the entire plant. Lubova resided in Riga, Latvia for many years before joining her beloved family in the United States in 2011 after her husband passed away. In 2017, Lubova became a United States citizen and lived the remainder of her life in Raritan, N.J with her daughter and son-in-law.
She enjoyed gardening and especially loved spending time with her family at the summer house at the Baltic Sea in Latvia. Lubova was a strong, caring, dedicated, educated, and hard-working woman. She was the matriarch of the family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Lubova is survived by her daughter, Alla Ayzenberg, and son-in-law, Leonid Ayzenberg; her granddaughter, Yelena Lavey, and her husband, Patrick; grandson, Eugene Ayzenberg, and his wife, Olga; and three great-grandchildren: Eric Tarasenko, Nicole Tarasenko, and Alexandra Ayzenberg. Lubova was predeceased by her parents and her loving husband, Piotr Popov (2010).A viewing will take place on Monday, July 14, 2025, between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm at the funeral home of Cuoco Funeral and Cremation Services, 10 West End Ave., Somerville, NJ 08876.
